Reliability Engineer - Audio Los Angeles, California, United States Hardware Summary Posted: Jul 28, 2025 Weekly Hours: 40 Role Number: 200613931-2605 Apple Audio Hardware Reliability Engineering team is looking for you to work with our diverse Audio Hardware Engineering teams. As the Reliability team, we are responsible for ensuring and improving the durability and reliability of our products. To achieve that, we partner with multiple engineering teams from the beginning (concept) through the end (field returns) of a product lifecycle, while exploring new technologies and understanding how customers will use our products. You will develop and implement creative reliability tests on new hardware programs, quantify reliability risk, support failure analysis resulting from these tests, and advise the executive team on the best path forward. Description Developing new reliability tests procedures and specification Preparing concise and detailed test plans and analyzing test reports Statistically analyzing data to provide design risk assessments Presenting tests, results, and risk assessments in a confident and positive manner to management and executive teams Researching new technologies to understand unique failure mechanisms Guiding design and interacting with diverse groups to improve product reliability Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in a hardware-focused field (Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering) 3+ years experience performing product characterization including mechanical stress test, shock/drop/vibration testing, environmental testing Ability to travel internationally Strong attention to detail and curiosity of how technologies work Excellent written, visual, and verbal communication skills Preferred Qualifications Master's or PHD in a hardware-focused field (Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering) Statistical experience such as Weibull, JMP, or familiarity with accelerated test models Familiar with Failure Analysis techniques (Optical Microscopy, X-ray/CT, Scanning Electron Microscopy/Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy, etc.), and the ability to use failure analysis methodology to derive a root cause of failure Capable of balancing multiple projects at once Dynamic engineer with a proactive attitude and desire to work closely with domestic and international cross-functional teams Consumer electronics experience is a plus Pay & Benefits At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $139,500 and $258,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
