Job Summary

Houston Skilled Consultancy is seeking a skilled and dependable Heavy Equipment Mechanic to support our ongoing construction projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy construction machinery, including excavators, bulldozers, loaders, cranes, and other specialized equipment. This role is vital in ensuring that our projects are executed efficiently, safely, and without unnecessary delays.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair heavy machinery used in construction projects.

  • Perform preventive maintenance and scheduled servicing on equipment to minimize downtime.

  • Diagnose hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical issues in heavy equipment.

  • Replace faulty parts such as engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and braking systems.

  • Maintain accurate service records and repair logs.

  • Ensure tools and equipment are used safely and maintained in proper working condition.

  • Collaborate with project managers and equipment operators to prioritize repair schedules.

  • Conduct safety inspections to ensure machinery complies with safety regulations.

  • Respond promptly to emergency repair requests on project sites.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Diploma/Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Technology, or a related field.

  • Strong understanding of hydraulic systems, diesel engines, and heavy construction machinery.

  • Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools.

  • Hands-on experience with welding and fabrication is an advantage.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Physical stamina to work in outdoor construction environments.

  • Basic computer literacy for maintaining service records.

Experience

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic in construction or a similar industry.

  • Prior experience with construction companies or equipment rental firms preferred.

Working Hours

  • Full-time position, 8–10 hours per day depending on project requirements.

  • Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and respond to urgent repair calls when needed.
