Job Overview

The Senior Manager, Procurement will play a critical role in supporting Macy's strategic priorities by enhancing procurement processes, driving cost efficiencies, and fostering supplier relationships. This position will focus on core procurement category manager roles and responsibilities, including supplier and sourcing strategy, business partnering, and supplier relationship management. The role involves collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with Macy's goals of delivering "A Bold New Chapter" and driving results.

In addition, the Senior Manager, Procurement will work closely with the business to build strategic partnerships, both with suppliers and internal stakeholders. This includes identifying and developing key supplier relationships, implementing performance metrics, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to ensure that Macy's remains at the forefront of industry trends and best practices.

This role will also have leadership responsibilities over a small team composed of both internal and external resources. The Senior Manager, Procurement will be responsible for guiding and mentoring team members, ensuring effective collaboration, and leveraging diverse expertise to achieve procurement objectives.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and implement strategic sourcing initiatives to optimize procurement processes and achieve cost savings, with a focus on outsourcing and BPO categories.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including Technology, finance, Supply Chain, Digital and merchandising, to ensure alignment with Macy's strategic priorities and workforce extension goals.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with supplier partners to ensure quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness in outsourcing and BPO services.
  • Analyze procurement data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement. Provide actionable insights to support decision-making.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve procurement processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness, particularly in outsourcing and BPO categories.
  • Support business partners with key issues related to BPO initiatives, create mitigation plans to support the solution.
  • Develop and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level agreements (SLAs) to ensure outsourcing and BPO services meet Macy's standards and objectives.
  • Prepare and present reports on procurement performance, highlighting key metrics and achievements in outsourcing and BPO categories.
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.
  • In addition to the essential duties mentioned above, other duties may be assigned.

Skills You Will Need

Strategic Sourcing & Procurement Expertise: Skilled in developing and implementing strategic sourcing initiatives, particularly in outsourcing and BPO categories, to optimize procurement processes and drive cost savings.

Supplier & Stakeholder Management: Adept at building and managing supplier relationships to ensure quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness while collaborating with internal stakeholders to align procurement strategies with business goals.

Leadership & Team Management: Experienced in leading and mentoring both internal and external teams, fostering collaboration, and leveraging diverse expertise to achieve procurement objectives.

Analytical & Financial Acumen: Proficient in analyzing procurement data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement, with a strong understanding of financial accounting principles and cost optimization strategies.

Problem Solving & Change Management: Expertise in route cause analysis and Lean/Six Sigma methodologies, able to drive resolution management and continuously improving workflows to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Performance Management: Skilled in developing and managing KPIs and SLAs to ensure outsourcing and BPO services meet performance expectations and business objectives.

Communication & Presentation Skills: Strong ability to communicate procurement strategies and insights effectively to senior leadership, facilitate meetings, and prepare reports that highlight key metrics and achievements.

Technical Proficiency: Proficient in procurement software and tools used for supplier management, contract negotiation, and data analysis.

Who You Are

  • Candidates with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in Finance, Supply Chain Management or related field are encouraged to apply.
  • Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.
  • You may be required to travel internationally 1-2 times per year and domestically 2-3 times per year to visit suppliers, attend conferences, and support internal company locations.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in operational procurement environment or 5 years procurement consulting plus 2 years operational procurement. Previous experience in managing offshore outsourcing, including KPI and SLA management is required.
