The Role

We're hiring part-time Portuguese language instructors to teach communicative, task-based lessons in virtual reality. You'll guide adult learners in small-group sessions set in realistic environments like meeting rooms, airports, cafés, and doctor's offices - helping them practice language in authentic, real-world contexts and build confidence speaking.

What You'll Do

Teach live Portuguese lessons in VR through our desktop platform (no VR headset required).
Prepare for classes using lesson plans created by the IMMERSE Curriculum team and contribute feedback to help improve future sessions.
Complete quick post-class reports and flag any classroom or tech issues.
Join team trainings and meetings to stay aligned with IMMERSE teaching practices.
(All training, prep, and meeting time is paid.)

Compensation

Pay varies by experience and location. Typical rates fall between $18-$22/hour USD, though actual pay may be lower or higher in certain regions based on local market rates.

What We're Looking For

BA in Portuguese or a related field.
2+ years of Portuguese teaching experience (online preferred).
Skilled in communicative and task-based teaching methods.
Confident with digital tools and eager to learn new technology.
C1 Portuguese proficiency (CEFR) or Advanced (ACTFL) equivalent required.
Minimum B2 Level proficiency in English
Organized, reliable, and detail-oriented.

We're especially interested in instructors based in North or South America due to server connectivity.
We are unable to hire residents of California, Oregon, Massachusetts, or New Hampshire at this time.

Bonus Points If You:

Speak Portuguese at a high level and/or have experience teaching the language.
Have experience teaching business or professional Portuguese learners.

Availability Needed
Immerse runs live classes from 8:00 AM to 11:55 PM Eastern Time (ET) every day.
We're currently seeing the most demand during:

Weekdays: 8:00 PM - 11:55 PM ET
Weekends: 11:00 AM - 11:55 PM ET
Instructors with availability during these peak hours will be prioritized for scheduling.
