They are seeking a Senior IBM Systems Engineer with expertise in IBM i Security, IBM Power Systems, and High Availability solutions to lead projects and provide technical support.


Responsibilities

  • Lead and support projects involving IBM Power Systems, IBM i, and AIX infrastructure, ensuring performance, security, and reliability.
  • Serve as a level 2/3 escalation engineer, handling complex technical issues that frontline support cannot resolve.
  • Drive initiatives around IBM i security—including system hardening, auditing, and compliance best practices.
  • Implement and maintain High Availability (HA) solutions such as PowerHA, MIMIX, and SAN replication.
  • Partner with Sales and Service Delivery teams to assess solution feasibility, scope client projects, and recommend improvements.
  • Contribute to documentation and knowledge sharing through technical procedures, system diagrams, and project records.
  • Provide after-hours support for infrastructure emergencies or scheduled maintenance as needed.

Skills

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience with IBM Power Systems environments (IBM i and/or AIX).
  • Proven background in IBM i Security and related auditing or compliance frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of HA technologies—PowerHA, MIMIX, SAN replication, etc.
  • Skilled in IBM i and VIOS installation, configuration, and upgrades.
  • Comfortable working independently on complex projects while collaborating with a distributed team.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required—relevant experience and certifications will be valued equally.
  • IBM Power Systems or storage certifications are a plus.
  • MSP background helpful but not required.
