UWCSEA Dover has a vacancy for a Part-Time Teacher of Filipino for our Home Languages Programme (HLP) from August 2026.

The Home Languages Programme is for stud ents who want to maintain a language spoken at home but who do not study this language as part of the academic curriculum during the school day at appropriate level. This programme offers stud ents the opportunity to gain cultural understanding of the language, as well as improve their linguistic skills to gain a ge appropriate fluency in their home language.

The stud ents’ ag es are from 4 to 1 8 ye ars old. Classes are taught in small groups of 3 to 6 stude nts of similar ag es and linguistic levels and will take place after school (or at lunchtime for some younger stud ents).

To apply for this role, you must reside in Singapore. Please note that we may not be able to sponsor a work pass for this role.

Main Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and teach classes as required.
  • Exhibit good classroom management skills.
  • Use digital resources to enhance students’ learning.
  • Provide samples of students’ learning in the school online learning platform for parents to follow students’ progress.
  • Provide feedback to parents
  • Collaborate with the other teachers of the Filipino Language Department in developing a Filipino Language Curriculum.

Person Specifications

  • Applicants must be degree holders with language teaching experience. Candidates without teaching qualifications but possess experience teaching ag e groups from 4 to 1 6 ye ars old with appropriate resources are encouraged to apply.
  • Candidates must have the ability to teach Filipino to students who speak Filipino as their home language or are Heritage speakers of Filipino.
  • A commitment to diversity and inclusion is essential alongside a willingness to adapt and develop pedagogy to meet the needs of our learners.
  • Contribute positively and collaboratively to the development of Filipino Language and Culture in the Home Languages Programme.
  • Promote cultural exchange and cross-cultural understanding, and to embed Filipino customs, history and traditions in the lessons.
