Welcome to the City of Dallas!<br><br>The City of Dallas is one of the largest employers in the DFW Metroplex.<br><br>We offer growth opportunities and a chance to make a difference in our community.<br><br>What do we offer?<br><br>A competitive salary, five-year vested pension plan, great benefits package that includes health, vision and dental insurance, pet insurance, tuition reimbursement, qualifying childcare assistance, paid time off and more.<br><br>Join our diverse workforce and help us in providing excellent service to the residents of Dallas while building a rewarding career.<br><br><strong>Job Summary<br><br></strong>Provides lead worker assistance for a large crew or to a number of large multi-disciplined crews which may include performing difficult and complex tasks including but not limited to: maintenance operations; street repair projects; or installation, repair, and maintenance of water or wastewater mains and facilities.<br><br><strong>Overview<br><br></strong><strong>Job Description<br><br></strong>The Crew Leader-Water Utility provides lead level worker assistance and direction for a large crew or number of crews performing maintenance and general tasks for the water and wastewater mains and facilities.<br><br><strong>Essential Functions<br><br></strong><strong>1 </strong>Organizes, prepares, and issues daily work assignments for crewmembers or other lower level crew leaders performing maintenance work for the Dallas Water Utility; oversees lower level employees and crew leaders to ensure that all maintenance is completed in a timely and efficient manner while adhering to safety compliance standards and department protocols and procedures.<br><br><strong>2</strong> Provides, performs, and conducts consistent on-site job and safety training to ensure compliance with regulatory standards; explains, communicates, and demonstrates proper, safe, and efficient work methods.<br><br><strong>3</strong> Drives around the City evaluating and checking maintenance work being performed; provides lead level expertise to solve problems and address issues and challenging water system maintenance situations; obtains parts and inventory and ensures all crews are outfitted with necessary parts and equipment.<br><br><strong>4</strong> Inspects, reviews, and evaluates pumping facility equipment including oil levels, valve position, switch gear instruments, annunciator panel, and pump drains; checks for cleanliness of tools and equipment and monitors clean up activities following work orders.<br><br><strong>5</strong> Leads the testing, maintenance, and care of large industrial, commercial, and customer city water meters by performing facilitating and overseeing preventative maintenance activities; handles citizen and customer complaints and concerns.<br><br><strong>6</strong> Gathers, compiles, prepares, and drafts daily paperwork; produces various reports on meters and water system, daily maintenance activity and individual work orders or requests.<br><br><strong>7</strong> Performs any and all other work as needed or assigned.<br><br><strong>Knowledge And Skills<br><br></strong><strong>1 </strong>Knowledge of Water and Wastewater systems and general equipment and meters.<br><br><strong>2</strong> Knowledge, use, and care of hand and power tools.<br><br><strong>3</strong> Knowledge of water and wastewater mains and facilities.<br><br><strong>4</strong> Ability to read and work with building blueprints and electrical schematics.<br><br><strong>5</strong> Ability to follow and give oral and written instructions and read charts and maintain written records.<br><br><strong>6</strong> Ability to receive and transmit to crewmembers oral and written instructions.<br><br><strong>7</strong> Ability to perform math calculations.<br><br><strong>8</strong> Ability to perform a variety of manual labor for extended periods.<br><br><strong>9</strong> Ability to lift and work with heavy equipment.<br><br><strong>10</strong> Ability to maintain record keeping or work log system.<br><br><strong>11</strong> Communicating effectively verbally and in writing<br><br><strong>12</strong> Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.<br><br><strong>Experience<br><br></strong><strong>Minimum Qualifications:<br><br></strong>Four (4) years of experience working with variety of machines and equipment in a large municipality or complex infrastructure, performing general labor in various trades is required. Experience in supervising or leading a crew is highly preferred.<br><br><strong>LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS<br><br></strong><ul><li>Commercial Driver’s License Class A with good driving record for Forestry, Code Compliance, Parks, Public Works, Traffic Signals, Water Distribution, Water Quality and DWU Stormwater.</li><li>Class B Driver’s License with good driving record for Facilities, Landscape, Maintenance, Wastewater Collection and Sanitation.</li><li>Movement Area Certification for Aviation is required.</li><li>Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) License for DWU may be required.</li><li>Other leadership certifications or endorsements highly preferred.<br><br></li></ul><strong>EDUCATION<br><br></strong>High School Diploma or GED.<br><br><strong>Other Requirements<br><br></strong><ul><li>Subject to working in inclement weather conditions.</li><li>Applicants with a Class A or B CDL issued by a state other than Texas, must obtain a Texas State Class A or B CDL within the probationary period.</li><li>Supervisory or lead work experience preferred. <br><br></li></ul><strong>EQUIVALENCY<br><br></strong><ul><li>Six (6) years of relevant experience and ten (10) years of combined education will fulfill the education and experience requirement.</li><li>For the divisions with the Commercial Driver License A requirement, in the absence of the CDL A, applicants with the CDL B will be considered with a condition to obtain CDL A within the probationary period.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Salary Range<br><br></strong>$53,810.41 - $62,480.26<br><br>The salary listed on this job posting is the starting salary range; amount offered will depend upon qualifications.<br><br>City of Dallas is an Equal Opportunity Employer and values diversity at all levels of its workforce.
