Northern Hardwoods, a producer of world-wide premium hardwoods, is hiring full-time General Laborers to join their team in Atlantic Mine, Michigan. The ideal person for this position is someone who enjoys fresh air, working outdoors, and taking on physical challenges while working in our state-of-the-art hardwood sawmill.

This is an excellent opportunity to hone your skills, become familiar with our company, and transition into higher levels of responsibility and pay (if you like). Become an essential part of our operations, ensuring that our high-quality lumber products are handled with care and precision as you stack lumber. Previous forestry, lumberyard or production experience is helpful, but not required. We will train someone motivated to learn.

WHAT WE OFFER.

  • FIRST SHIFT: $16.42 – $22.71 per hour (Monday–Friday 6:00am–3:00pm).
  • PLUS $1,000 sign-on bonus.
  • PLUS monthly production bonus.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR.

  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Willingness to be trained and assist other production areas.
  • Physical ability to stand for long periods of time and be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Strong attention to detail is essential.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all types of conditions (hot, cold, wet, snowy, dusty, dirty, humid, windy, etc.).
  • Ability to check lumber thickness, stack, sort, and assemble lumber packs.
  • Ability to operate a forklift and saws, or willingness to be trained to operate these machines.
  • Practice safe work practices by lifting properly, wearing protective equipment/clothing (safety glasses, footwear, hardhats, hearing protection, etc. as needed) and maintain a safe work environment always.
  • You are energetic, reliable, and work well individually and as a team member.
  • You work well under time constraints and can ensure deadlines are met.
