Role Summary


As a Store Leader, you play a central role in ensuring the well-being of both pets and people. You deliver an outstanding customer experience, oversee operational processes, achieve store goals, and handle all aspects of people management. Your leadership helps foster our culture, puts a focus on results, supports customer satisfaction, and keeps daily operations running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

Your tasks will shift depending on the needs of the store and may include:

Team Leadership

- Make decisions related to hiring, interviewing, coaching, and, when needed, termination
- Maintain an open-door policy by listening to team members and utilizing available feedback tools
- Collaborate with leaders to set store schedules
- Support associate engagement and career paths, including recognition and planning for advancement
- Assign and delegate responsibilities, encouraging team ownership and development
- Ensure clear, frequent communication to align priorities across the team
- Address and resolve concerns or complaints among staff
- Recognize team wins and celebrate achievements
- Complete timely performance evaluations

Store Environment


- Provide positive experiences for both employees and customers while ensuring pet safety
- Supervise customer interactions and resolve any issues, both routine and escalated
- Foster a friendly and inviting store atmosphere
- Continuously look for ways to improve store operations
- Participate in in-store and community activities to support brand initiatives and partnerships
- Ensure compliance with store standards, policies, and codes of conduct
- Conduct monthly reviews to confirm adherence to processes and procedures
- Emphasize a safe environment for staff, animals, and shoppers
- Check inventory levels and manage product availability
- Share goals and business targets with store leadership
- Use surveillance tools to assess safety, staff behavior, and risk, coaching as needed
- Respond quickly to pet health issues, including arranging veterinary care when required
- Participate in opening and closing routines as outlined by company policy

Business Operations


- Meet profitability targets and carry out strategies from corporate leadership
- Evaluate reports to understand business trends, and communicate results with action plans for improvement
- Discover opportunities for growth and hold the team accountable for meeting sales and loss prevention targets
- Oversee spending on payroll, labor, and materials
- Partner with corporate support teams to address store needs
- Create staff schedules and manage budgets for payroll expenses
- Complete paperwork and reports as needed
- Support operational needs through errands or additional tasks as necessary

Qualifications


- 4 to 6 years' experience in retail management or a customer-focused setting
- Full-time availability with flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Skilled with computers and standard applications
- Effective written and verbal communicator
- Ability to remain composed in a fast-paced setting
- Strong organizational and detail management capabilities

Supervisory Responsibilities


- Direct leaders and staff members according to company policies and guidelines

Physical and Work Conditions

- Ability to stand, walk, use ladders, and complete tasks using your hands
- Regularly move up to 50 pounds and occasionally assist lifting more than 100 pounds with help
- Exposure at times to equipment, wet settings, pet fur, and different noise levels
