LOCATION: KONA COMMUNITY HOSPITAL | Housekeeping POSITION STATUS: 1.00 | Permanent SALARY RANGE: BU01 | BC02 SALARY RATE: $52,416 (Annual Salary) based on the FTE SHORTAGE DIFFERENTIAL: $0.00/month JOB DUTIES: A. Housekeeping Duties 1. Sweeps, mops, wet washes, and vacuums all rooms and hallways. 2. Washes walls, ceilings and windows with water, cleaning solutions, sponge and cloths. Uses ladder when necessary. 3. Scours faucet, sinks, tubs and showers with special emphasis on cleaning inside of faucet. Replenish supplies of soap, towels, and other dispensable items. 4. Periodically, all floors are stripped with scrubbing machine and waxed with buffing machine. 5. After discharge of each patient, rooms are thoroughly cleaned. May assist with the stripping (removing sheets) of unoccupied beds as needed. Wipes all furniture; cleans sinks and commode with solution; mops floors using double bucket method. 6. On scheduled surgery days, cleans the surgery suite after each surgery using sterile techniques. Changes into scrub dress, or cap; cleans shoes, empties all trash containers; collects soiled linen when necessary. Uses same cleaning techniques in the delivery room after each delivery. 7. After each isolation room discharge, uses similar cleaning techniques used in surgery. Puts on isolation gown, mask and cap; wipes all furniture and equipment, counters; washes basin, faucets, etc; damp mops entire area; uses disposable cleaning cloth and wipes off walls; after cleaning, soaps mop for 20 minutes in solution; pours contaminated solution in isolation utility room; cleans all cleaning equipment; disposes all cleaning cloth in plastic bag marked isolation. 8. Cleans the morgue after every autopsy. Cleans autopsy table with disinfectant; washes down floor with disinfectant and water; washes sink. 9. At the end of each day, washes mop heads with soap and water; soaks in solution for 20 minutes; hangs out to dry; cleans double bucket carts and wheels. 10. Once a week cleans clinical offices in common areas such as bathroom, hallways and patient’s rooms. 11. Once a week, checks inventory of supplies in utility room; requisitions and restocks. Re-supplies bathroom with toilet supplies when necessary. B. Safety/Infection Control 1. Adheres to safety/infection control policies and procedures. 2. Reports unsafe equipment. C. Miscellaneous Duties 1. Communicates and interacts with patients, families and other staff members in a positive and courteous manner. 2. Considers age-specific needs when interacting with or assisting patients: __X__ Infants (0 - 2 years) _X__ Adults (18+ - 70 years) __X__ Pediatrics (2+ - 12 years) _X__ Older (70+ years) __X _ Adolescents (12+ - 18 years 3. Uses knowledge of different cultures when interacting with patients and families. 4. Compliance with mandatory Inservice requirements, e.g., patient rights, crisis prevention, annual mandatory health and safety, etc. 5. Maintains the strictest confidentiality of all facility and facility related employee/ patient information. 6. Participates in activities of department, i.e. Joint Commission, Safety, Performance Improvement, and Infection Control. 7. Adheres to hospital rules and regulations, and policies and procedures. 8. Plans and organizes workload and is aware and flexible to acute needs of the section. THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS ARE: Applicants must meet all of the following requirements. KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: ·KNOWLEDGE OF: Practices, tools and materials used in janitorial work. ·ABILITY TO: Lift and carry heavy furniture and equipment; understand and follow oral and written instructions; perform minor building repair and maintenance tasks; and operate heavy industrial type cleaning equipment.
