<p> Software Engineer (L4)- Open Connect Control Plane<br /> <br /> Netflix has been changing the way people watch shows and movies. We've built a global Content Delivery Network called Open Connect, which sets the standard for video delivery. We're pushing hard on the boundaries of what we can deliver, venturing into Live Streaming and Cloud-Rendered Gaming.<br /> To embrace those challenges, we are looking to add a Software Engineer to the Open Connect Control Plane team to craft the systems needed to build the best Video, Live and Gaming experiences possible.<br /> The role involves building:<br /> • Cloud services that customers directly hit when they press 'Play'<br /> • Software, services, APIs and libraries that are common to Live, Cloud Games and VOD<br /> • Operational knobs and tools to quickly diagnose and fix problems as they arise: when you're doing it live, every second counts!<br /> We spend our time trying to answer questions like these:<br /> • What do we need to build in order to handle the biggest Live streaming event ever?<br /> • How do we design our systems to react to failure, traffic shifts, and other changes in real-time?<br /> • What's the best way to share system capacity between Live and VOD traffic?<br /> • How do we make our systems easy to operate and maintain?<br /> • What tools would make our lives easier?<br /> We're seeking a candidate who:<br /> • Prioritizes best practices in software development and avoids cutting corners.<br /> • Thrives in ambiguous environments and adapts to change with confidence.<br /> • Demonstrates curiosity and a genuine interest in understanding the domain they work in.<br /> • Iterates rapidly on ideas, embracing feedback to drive continuous improvement.<br /> • Values building high-quality, maintainable software that teammates can easily support.<br /> • Is passionate about operational excellence and consistently seeks ways to improve reliability and efficiency.<br /> • Is committed to minimizing technical debt and takes proactive steps to address it.<br /> Basic Qualifications:<br /> • 1-3 years of software development (ideally with strong experience in Java)<br /> • Experience building and operating business-critical systems at scale.<br /> Nice To Have:<br /> • Distributed Systems experience (e.g., building stateful & stateless systems, experience with Cassandra, Kafka, etc)<br /> • Basic background in networking concepts<br /> • Big Data Experience (e.g. Hive, Spark, Trino, etc.)<br /> Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $170,000 - $720,000.<br /> Netflix provides comprehensive benefits including Health Plans, Mental Health support, a 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer match, Stock Option Program, Disability Programs, Health Savings and Flexible Spending Accounts, Family-forming benefits, and Life and Serious Injury Benefits.
