This role is expected to work within a team managing a high-profile project that involves the migration of a marquee system within the Federal Government. The ideal candidate has experience with owning the full lifecycle of on-prem (PBIRS) reporting updating existing Power BI reports, building new reports and measures/KPIs, optimizing the SQL they depend on, and validating visuals end-to-end. Job Description • Update and maintain existing Power BI reports and datasets (Power BI Report Server). • Build new reports, measures, and KPIs using DAX; design clean, actionable visuals for business stakeholders. • Optimize and improve underlying SQL (views, stored procedures, indexing) to improve report performance and reliability. • Create and execute test plans for data connections, refreshes, visuals, drill-downs, and row-level logic; validate numbers against source systems. • Refresh legacy PBIX to PBIRS with documented refresh paths. • Validate key measures/KPIs against source systems and signed off by business owners. • Migrate and re-platform cloud PBIX, where needed, to PBIRS-compatible solutions. • Document datasets, measures, refresh logic in clear SOPs. • Use Git for version control and code reviews. • Work with development teams and product managers to scope and deliver software solutions • Test software to ensure responsiveness and efficiency • Create technical documentation • Design and develop web services components for cross-application solutions • Implement best practices to maintain quality and ensure responsiveness of applications • Coordinate and prioritize application modifications and bug fixes Minimum Requirements • 8 yrs experience working IT, Information Security and Information System projects. • 3+ years building production Power BI reports and semantic models (DAX, calculation groups, field parameters). • Bachelor's Degree or above • Strong DAX skills; confident with queries and incremental refresh concepts. • Strong SQL Server / T-SQL skills, including query writing and optimization. • Proven experience with Power BI Report Server (PBIRS) or willingness to work primarily in an on-prem environment. • Solid understanding of data modeling (star schemas, fact/dimension design) and KPI design/validation. • Strong skillset with Git workflows branching, committing, pull requests, and peer review. • Clear written and verbal communication; able to explain metrics and assumptions to non-technical users. • Experience converting cloud PBIX to PBIRS (visual/feature compatibility, RS-optimized Desktop). • Exposure to SSRS/SSIS or automating PBIRS deployments. • Prior work in federal or regulated environments. • Experience in Microsoft SQL Server • Strong documentation and communication skills • Must have strong oral and written communication skills and with the ability to tie organization objectives to mission critical objectives • Excellent problem-solving abilities Desired Experience/Certifications • The Microsoft Power BI intelligence platform • SQL and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) • Power BI Report Server (PBIRS) • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Project, Excel, and Visio More Information #MON At Foxhole Technology, we are committed to pay transparency as required by law, for our applicants and employee-owners.
