About the position

Responsibilities

  • Support the Assistant Director of Operations in delivering operational support across all areas of The Pingry School.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of Pingry’s emergency response protocols, incident command systems, and emergency communications platforms.
  • Respond to operational challenges with calm, sound judgment, and the effective use of available resources.
  • Support the execution of monthly safety drills.
  • Coordinate with Facilities and Technology teams to ensure all physical and digital security systems function properly.
  • Provide a consistent and approachable security presence while maintaining strong access control to school buildings and grounds.
  • Conduct routine security rounds to assess potential risks and ensure the ongoing safety of the community.
  • Monitor surveillance systems and security cameras to identify and report any suspicious or irregular activity.
  • Implement visitor screening protocols for campus guests while maintaining a welcoming and professional demeanor.
  • Stay informed about daily campus activities and events, including who should be on campus, when, and for what purpose.
  • Serve as a point of contact for phone, email, and in-person inquiries, ensuring timely and accurate information-sharing across departments.
  • Collaborate with Auxiliary Programs, Athletics, Facilities, Institutional Advancement, and the PSPA to support seamless event execution.
  • Support the safe flow and parking of vehicles during peak traffic periods on campus.
  • Model and promote The Pingry School’s Honor Code through all daily interactions and responsibilities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent organization, interpersonal communication (oral and written), and human relations skills with the ability to facilitate difficult conversations.
  • Ability to foster good working relationships with employees, community members, and other school stakeholders.
  • Ability to proactively identify and resolve operational problems and conflicts as they arise.
  • Strong collaborative skills that display the ability to support Pingry internal and external stakeholders, especially Pingry students, employees, and families, in a professional manner.
  • Flexible and collaborative approach to resolving business issues as they arise.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to walk long distances and be upright for extended periods of time.
  • Prior experience with Google Business Applications, in particular Gmail and Google Calendar, as well as an ability to quickly understand and master various web-based computer applications like Ruvna, SchoolPass, and Milestone X Protect.
  • Fast acting, intuitive, focused, professional, and able to take initiative regularly.
  • First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications are required, although accreditation may be obtained after an offer of employment has been extended.
  • Must be able to balance working autonomously and as part of a team.
