Key Responsibilities • Coordinate and prepare documentation required by US Customs and other government agencies for the entry of goods into the US on behalf of importers. • Provide exceptional customer service, responding to inquiries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner. • Process commodities that require specialized handling to minimize the risk of liquidated damages and penalties through accurate classification and application of duty preferences. • Determine the correct classification of goods for customs release using various resources, including databases, SOPs, tariff books, and the internet. • Perform data entry and processing of import-related documentation for submission to US Customs and other participating government agencies (PGAs). • Maintain accurate and up-to-date shipment documentation in compliance with record-keeping requirements. • Adhere to international importing and exporting regulations, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. • Collaborate with internal staff, other FedEx operating companies, customers, and government agencies to deliver high-level service to customers. • Process agency brokerage shipments, handle remote filings, and perform entry reconciliations as needed. • Ensure compliance with government and organizational policies, following up on Customs matters and resolving problems. • Perform entry reviews, and other duties as assigned. Essential Qualifications To succeed in this role, you will need • A high school diploma or GED. • A minimum of 6 months of work experience, with 12 months of industry experience preferred. • Data entry and keyboard experience, with proficiency in MS Office, Outlook, and office equipment (phone, fax, photocopier, printer, scanner). • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact with customers, carriers, brokers, government agencies, and internal staff. • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to handle a high volume of work and meet time-sensitive deadlines. • Problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. • Knowledge of customs regulations and harmonized tariff schedules is preferred. Preferred Qualifications • A CCS and/or Brokers license. • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. • Familiarity with multiple systems and reference materials.
