Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. This vital role serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, ensuring a welcoming environment while managing essential administrative functions. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, willing to learn office procedures, and proficiency with various Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. Your energetic approach will help streamline patient intake, appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and medical documentation review, contributing to the overall efficiency and quality of patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing exceptional patient service and phone etiquette
  • Schedule appointments accurately using medical scheduling software
  • Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification to facilitate smooth billing processes
  • Manage patient check-in and check-out procedures, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed and accurate
  • Handle multi-line phone systems efficiently, directing calls appropriately and taking detailed messages when needed
  • Maintain and organize medical records using EHR systems
  • Review medical documentation for completeness and accuracy, including CPT coding, ICD-10 coding, and care plans
  • Assist with medical billing and collection processes
  • Support clinic operations by filing paperwork, managing office supplies, and performing clerical tasks such as typing reports and updating patient information

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment with clinic
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-10), CPT coding, and health information management practices
  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems
  • Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and office management software
  • Ability to handle sensitive patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations with discretion and professionalism
  • Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail for documentation review and filing tasks
  • Strong communication skills paired with friendly phone etiquette and customer service orientation
  • Previous experience with insurance verification, medical billing, or medical collection processes is highly desirable
  • Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude
