About the Role

Dow is offering paid Manufacturing and Production Apprenticeship opportunities across multiple U.S. manufacturing locations as part of its U.S. Apprenticeship Program. This structured 23 year program provides practical, on-the-job experience within chemical manufacturing facilities while apprentices attend community college to earn a company-sponsored Associates degree.

Apprentices will receive competitive hourly wages, paid tuition, and select benefits during the program. Throughout the apprenticeship, participants will be supported by an Apprenticeship Program Leader and experienced professionals. Successful completion of the program positions apprentices for strong consideration for full-time roles with Dow.

Individuals accepting an apprenticeship offer must commit to working with Dow for two years upon placement into a full-time role.

Program Details

  • Duration: 23 years
  • Education: Company-paid Associates degree aligned to technical discipline
  • Compensation: Hourly pay ranging from $21.69 to $25.38 (non-negotiable)
  • Expected Start Date: June 8, 2026 (may extend to August 3, 2026)
  • Apprenticeship Focus Areas

Manufacturing and Production Apprentices may train in one of the following disciplines:

  • Process Technician
  • Instrument Technician
  • Electrical Technician
  • Millwright / Mechanical Technician
  • Laboratory Technician

Key Responsibilities and Learning Areas

Process Operations

  • Operate and monitor manufacturing equipment using control systems and manual devices
  • Adjust process variables such as temperature, pressure, flow, and levels
  • Perform product transfers and equipment isolation activities
  • Identify process deviations, quality issues, and equipment maintenance needs
  • Follow operating procedures, safety standards, and environmental practices

Instrumentation

  • Install, maintain, and repair process measurement and control instruments
  • Troubleshoot pneumatic, electronic, and digital instrumentation systems
  • Read and interpret electrical, logic, and loop diagrams

Electrical Systems

  • Maintain and repair industrial electrical systems and components
  • Work with motors, starters, breakers, and wiring across various voltage levels
  • Diagnose electrical faults and replace defective components

Mechanical Maintenance

  • Install and service mechanical equipment such as pumps, compressors, mixers, and gearboxes
  • Read blueprints and mechanical drawings
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance tasks

Laboratory Operations

  • Conduct routine analytical testing and sample analysis
  • Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment
  • Perform measurements including chromatography, FTIR, titration, viscosity, pH, and flammability testing
  • Maintain laboratory cleanliness and safely handle solvents, glassware, and PPE
  • Across all disciplines, apprentices are expected to actively participate in procedure use, review, and improvement while maintaining a strong focus on safety and environmental stewardship.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Completion of Algebra or Technical Math and Science coursework
  • Chemistry and/or Physics coursework preferred
  • Applicants currently enrolled or graduated within the last two years must provide official transcripts
  • Must meet community college entrance requirements without needing remedial coursework
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5 (preferred for recent graduates or current students)

Eligibility

  • Must be at least 18 years old by start date
  • Valid U.S. drivers license or ability to obtain one
  • Eligible to obtain a TWIC card
  • Authorized to work in the United States (no visa sponsorship available)
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime
