The Grand/Sun City Grand is the premier active, age-restricted community in Surprise, Arizona. We are currently seeking dependable, full-time Golf Course Workers to perform maintenance of the golf course ensuring these spaces remain in optimal condition for play.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Mows greens, aprons, fairways, roughs, tees, and other areas.

· Operates front-deck mower, spreader, top-dresser, sand bunker grooming equipment, utility vehicle, tractor, finish mower, and greens mower.

· Edges, rakes, and maintains sand bunkers.

· Operates string trimmers in trimming, tees, around trees, fence lines, banks, lake edges and hillsides.

· Ensures that the equipment cooling and other systems are working at all times; refills fuel and oil daily; cleans equipment daily, and reports equipment problems or failures to mechanic or lead golf course worker immediately.

· Returns equipment to designated location at the maintenance facility and cleans the equipment before shifts ends.

· Drives utility vehicle to haul materials and refuse; uses loaders to move sand, dirt, debris, and other materials.

· Sets tee markers and cups on greens as directed; sands and seeds tee and drop area divots.

· Maintains ball washers; replaces water, tee towels, and flags when needed; removes debris.

· Performs other duties as directed by his or her supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Ability to:

· Work extended hours, to include weekends and holidays as necessary;

· Recognize existing and potential construction hazards;

· Work effectively in a team environment;

· Be aware of safety, health, and environmental concerns;

· Understand and comply with both oral and written instructions;

· Maintain regular, reliable and punctual attendance.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Preferred 1+ years of golf course maintenance experience or a combination of education, experience, and training that indicates the ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position listed above. Must possess, and maintain, a valid Arizona driver’s license.

Preferred: Bilingual in Spanish

PHYSICAL DEMANDS and WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Constant Demands: see, hear. Frequent Demands: talk, sit, stand, and walk; use hands-to-finger, feel or handle writing utensils; wrist and hand movement; bend the body downward and forward for sustained period of time. Occasional Demands: stoop, kneel, push, shove, lift, balance, bend, reach; walk on uneven, rocky or rough ground; exert sufficient force to move objects horizontally and vertically using upper extremities and back muscles; and carry objects up to 50 pounds.

Environmental Factors: medium to loud noise level, work outdoors where weather conditions prevail and temperatures and lighting vary; constant risk of danger due to machinery operation, small tools and golf ball impact; when working on machinery individual may have to work in cramped position.

Individual must be alert, for safety reasons to adversarial situations presented in vicinity of desert vegetation and native species of reptiles and mammals (subjecting employee to dangers of thorn pricks or bites). Protective footwear and attire is required. Wears helmet at all times and provides for the safety of all players at work locations.
